Advice for the Wannabe Immigrant
- Read
only the current information so you won't be confused. There
are many immigration policies, rules and procedures that
change frequently so always check the latest update.
- Get
information from reliable sources. There are so many
websites on Canada immigration that will flood you with
information. Separate the chaff from the grain.
- It
is in your best interest to be properly informed of your
chances for success before you decide to submit an application
for permanent residence in order to avoid spending a great
deal of time, effort and money needlessly. You may
need professional assistance and advice in eligibility assessment
if you do not have the time to study the procedures carefully.
Practical
Advice before undergoing medical exam
- If
it has been more than a year since you had your last medical
check-up, arrange an appointment with your doctor to make
sure you have a clean bill of health before the designated
medical officer of Citizenship and Immigration Canada examines
you.
- Stay
fit to avoid being refused for medical reasons.
Practical
Advice for Newcomers to Canada
- The
examining officer at the Canadian port of entry has the
final responsibility in determining your admissibility for
permanent residence. During your interview at the port of
entry relax . be confident and enthusiastic. If you
are asked questions, be honest and truthful with your answers.
- If
you leave Canada for longer than 180 days within a one-year
period, you will need to apply for permission to re-enter.
